The Texas Gymnastics Conference (TGC) is an organization
of collegiate men's and women's gymnastics clubs in Texas. The TGC is organized and run by college students giving
them the opportunity to learn how to organize and operate activities, events, and people.
Established in 1979
by UT Arlington graduate/med student Chuck Wilson (also an L.D. Bell High School graduate) and Texas A&M graduate/med
student Joel Weddington, the conference began as the Texas Collegiate Gymnastics Club Conference (TCGCC). The concept was
to provide an association for competitive gymnasts at the various Texas colleges and universities that did not have scholarship
programs.

A few years later, the name was shortened to the Texas Gymnastics Conference (TGC). Competitive meets have been
held every year since then culminating in a TGC State Championship Meet at the end of the season.
The TGC competes
nationally at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals and also at the NAIGC Nationals, a national version of the TGC, that
has participating collegiate gymnastics clubs from around the country.
